Teaching Methodologies

The teaching-learning process is based on a combination of activities that use different methods adapted to each type of content: – Expository component of theoretical principles, using audiovisual media and participatory presentation strategies, complemented by case studies and guided research work, individually or in groups. – Practical application component, with analysis of practical cases, problem solving, preparation of a business plan (in groups), as well as tutorial guidance activities. Students will be encouraged to participate in seminars/workshops on the topics under study, as well as in competitions promoting entrepreneurship taking place during the semester.

Learning Results

Know the general aspects of a company and the basic management principals. Understand and connect behavioral theories and organizational structures. Recognize the importance of business ethics and corporate social responsibility. Know and apply marketing principles. Understand the role of marketing to develop the market and the importance of market research. Know and apply the components of a marketing plan. Know and apply the basic principles of stock management and production management. Elaborate the economic-financial diagnosis of a company and propose action measures in function of the obtained results. Learn the concept of entrepreneurship in its multiple aspects and be aware of its relevance in today’s world. Acquire the capacity of identifying, analysing, and developing strategies for a business idea. Carry out and present a business plan and understand its importance.

Introductory concepts. General aspects of the company. Organisational structures. Organisational behaviour. Ethics and social responsibility. Marketing: market assessment, customer value creation strategy, consumer behaviour, competition analysis, segmentation and positioning, marketing mix, marketing plan. Stock management: definition and types of stock, objectives of stock creation, the importance of stock management, economic batch model, ABC analysis. Production management concepts: objectives, production planning, types of production, principles of total quality management, PERT method. Financial resource management: financial function and financial analysis, basic documents for financial analysis, method of indicators or ratios. Entrepreneurship: entrepreneurial process, business opportunities, investment and financing solutions, business plan, evaluation of investment projects, formalities for setting up companies.
