Teaching Methodologies

Oral presentation from the basic contents to the acquisition of skills, research-oriented activities to be held during the contact time and beyond, Preparation of projects under guidance; Oral presentation and discussion of work done in groups. Preparation and discussion of visit reports.

Learning Results

1. To understand the concept of heritage, theoretical principles and main means of interpretation;

2. Identify similarities and conceptual differences between interpretation and museology, as well as between their respective institutions and support infrastructures (eg museums, ecomuseums, interpretation centers, etc.);

3. Assess the potential of cultural or natural heritage for the implementation of interpretation projects, taking into account public policies, legislation and applicable support instruments;

4. Apply techniques and instruments of interpretation appropriate to specific situations.

5. Draw up simple plans for interpreting the cultural or natural heritage;

6. Use programs of interpretation in natural, cultural and recreational spaces for the promotion of educational processes.

a) Introduction to interpretation: conceptualization and applications;

b) Museums and museology; the new museology and the ecomuseums; Infrastructures: centers for interpreting and welcoming visitors;

c) Analysis of interpretation programs; Case Study;

d) Distinction between means, techniques and instruments of interpretation; their adequacy to specific situations;

e) The planning of programs and projects of interpretation: analysis of the situation; setting objectives; collection of information; definition of the target audience; implementation and evaluation;

f) Interpretation and educational processes
