Base Knowledge

Use of Microsoft Office. Preliminary data analysis and graphical representation.

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical and practical classes, with the presentation of concepts and their application in real-world.

Resolution of practical exercises proposed in worksheets to reinforce the understanding of the theoretical content covered.

Practical assignments using spreadsheets and specific software, aimed at increasing students’ productivity in real-world contexts.

Flipped Classroom, where students explore the GuruVet software in advance, applying and discussing in class the management procedures for clinical processes allowed by the software.

Group work, encouraging cooperation and knowledge sharing among students.

Learning Results

The objective of this curricular unit is to promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills that allow the student to:

a) Know the fundamentals of information systems;

b) Use the main tools of the electronic office;

c) Use the main tools for the management of veterinary clinics;

d) Identify and collect qualitative/quantitative data relevant to the case under study;

e) Select appropriate statistical analysis techniques for describing available data;

f) Numerically and graphically organise the results of the use of different statistical methodologies;

g) Correctly interpret numerical and graphic results;

h) Use data analysis programs (e.g. Microsoft Excel / SPSS – Statistical Package for Social Sciences).

3. Management of scheduling, consultation and hospitalization processes in veterinary clinics; management of billing, inventory and marketing processes in veterinary clinics.
