Base Knowledge
Portuguese 12th-year chemistry or equivalent.
Teaching Methodologies
The syllabus of the Curricular Unit was established in coherence with the objectives defined for the Unit.
After theoretical learning of the contents, students acquire practical skills in the same areas, which allows them to achieve desired objectives.
The transmission of knowledge is carried out in an atmosphere of dialogue with the students, established to favor and consolidate the teaching-learning process.
Learning Results
The Curricular Unit’s learning objectives are for the student to acquire the following skills:
1. Knows the structure and reactions of the main classes of organic compounds involved in metabolic processes.
2. Knows the reactivity of the main functional groups.
3. Knows the structure of the main families of biological compounds: sugars, lipids, and protein.
4. Understands carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.
