Lectures and discussion/solution of examples and case studies.
Learning Results
Develop mathematical models for linear, integer, binary, and mixed-integer programming in order to obtain optimal solutions to management problems. Understand the properties of the solutions to these problems. Solve these problems using widely available computational tools (spreadsheets). Perform sensitivity analysis of linear programming solutions to address uncertainty in the conditions under which the model was developed. Apply decision theory criteria and decision tree analysis to select alternatives under uncertainty.
Program
Formulation and solution of linear, integer, and binary programming problems. Sensitivity analysis of solutions to linear programming problems. Assignment problems. Network problems: transportation, maximum flow, and shortest path. Decision theory: decision criteria and decision tree analysis.
