Theoretical-practical classes, essentially of exposure, using  power-point presentations and videos related to the subjects covered.

Practical lessons in the Horse-riding arena, with outdoor practical lessons and simulation of Equestrian Tourism activities in the forest zone of ESAC.

4. To know the application of equestrian touristic activities: horse riding and Equine tourism.

1. The evolution of the equine species.
2. Study of the exterior of the horse: different regions of the body; the coats.
3. Main breeds of horses in Portugal: Lusitano, Sorraia and Garrano.
4. Main behavior reactions: social, mathernal and sexual behavior.
5. Main standards of housing.
6. Main standards of nutrition.
7. Main standards of sanitation.
8. Horse riding and horse management.
9. The use of the horse in sports and leisure.

Continuous assessment

The discipline will be assessed by 2 instruments:

• a written assessment (T), at the end of the semester, with a weight of 75% of the grade;
• presentation and discussion of an individual work (P), with a weight of 25% of the grade.

The assignment must be submitted in PDF format.

The student is approved, through continuous assessment, when they have met the minimum attendance requirement (67% of classes actually taught) and the following condition:

1. Final grade according to the following formula (Tx75%+Px25%), equal to or greater than 9.5 points.

Exam assessment

In the final exam, students will be subject to the same assessment instruments, namely T and P, maintaining their respective weighting. The student is approved when their respective grade is equal to or greater than 9.5 points.
