Teaching Methodologies
Classes are supported by presentations, teacher notes, and discussion of case studies. It is intended that the student verifies in practice the importance of field research of practices used to improve soil fertility. Apply techniques and obtain more adequate solutions in areas related to land measurement and demarcation.
Small working groups (up to 4 students) will be set up to carry out practical work and prepare reports. These groups will have to carry out observation, analysis and research work based on a case study, or a related topic within the scope of the Training Unit, accompanied by the teacher.
Learning Results
At the end of this curricular unit, the student will have acquired knowledge, skills and competences that allow the recognition of the fundamental importance of soil study and its management. Knowledge of soil constituents and properties and will be able to implement adequate soil management in order to maintain and improve its quality.
The skills in Surveying will allow students to be able to apply techniques and obtain more adequate solutions in the areas related to land measurement and demarcation.
Program
1. Soil management and conservation as a natural resource;
2. General principles of biogeochemical cycles of nutrients in soils;
3. Assessment, maintenance and improvement of soil fertility and its quality in general.
4. Environmental impact of different soil tillage techniques, tractors and soil conditions.
5. Management of animal trampling and technical itineraries and the improvement of soil fertility.
6. Effects of conventional, simplified and no-tillage on chemical, physical and biological fertility.
7. Land cover management: soil residues; cover crops.
8. Carry out topographic and geodetic surveys using appropriate methods and equipment.
9. Analysis and conversion of georeferenced data, selecting appropriate techniques and tools, and using specific software.
Grading Methods
1. - Continuous assessment:
-Attendance to at least 75% of the classes taught
-Two parts with equal weight in the final grade: 1st part test (75%)+practical assignments (25%); 2nd part - test
-Classification greater than or equal to 9.5 values in the weighted average of the obtained classifications.
2. - Final exam assessment:
The final exam assessment consists of a written test and oral discussion of case studies.
Passing the final exam requires a minimum grade of 9.5.
3. - Specific situations that may arise will be evaluated and dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the ESAC Student Performance Assessment Regulation in force.
