Learning Results

1. identify the main agricultural production systems in the country and the strategic plan for their development;
2. Relate the technical options for production and management of the agricultural holding to the system practised;
3. Recognise the production cycle, seasonality, soil and climate factors and others limiting agricultural activity;
4. Relate the technical specificities and constraints of agricultural and animal production to their management options;
5. Recognise and propose technical performance indicators for an agricultural holding;
6. Calculate and interpret efficient technical performance indicators for an agricultural holding;
7. Propose improvements to the technical performance of an agricultural holding.

Grading Methods

Periodic assessment

Assessment will consist of 3 assessment instruments: 2 written tests (multiple choice, short answer and/or guided questions and problem solving in relation to specific situations) at the end of each part I (agriculture) and II (livestock), with an individual weighting of 40% and a presentation (group or individual work) in which an analysis of the technical performance of an agricultural and/or livestock holding is carried out (preferably using a management software programme), with a weighting of 20%. This presentation will take place in the last week of classes in the presence of both lecturers, who will award a joint mark.

Final mark in periodic assessment = (0.4 x Test I) + (0.4 x Test II) + (0.2 x Presentation)

Exam assessment

There will be two written tests, one for part I (Exam I) and one for part II (Exam II), each with a weight of 40 per cent in the final grade. In addition, there will be an oral exam in which the student presents an analysis of the technical performance of an agricultural holding (preferably using an agricultural management software programme), followed by an assessment by the lecturers.

Final exam mark = (0.4 x Exam I) + (0.4 x Exam II) + (0.2 x Oral)

In exam, students are partially exempt from the assessment instruments in which they have obtained a minimum mark of 7.5 in continuous assessment. In this situation, the weighting of the assessment instruments is the same.
