Public Finances

Teaching Methodologies

The classes will be both expository and interactive, incorporating case studies relevant to the current context of public finances. Activities
designed to encourage research will also be included, involving the analysis and interpretation of recent scientific articles published in
journals specializing in public finance. Finally, individual and group projects on current topics in Portuguese and European economies within
the framework of public finances will be carried out.

2.Study the State Budget (Knowledge, skills, and competencies to be developed by students: Knowledge and understanding of the concept
of the State Budget, as well as all the stages involved in its preparation, from conception to approval, including the recording and
classification of public revenues and expenditures.)
3.Examine the impact of European integration on public finances (Knowledge, skills, and competencies to be developed by students:
Understanding the impact of European integration, with a particular focus on the evolution of public debt in the context of the single currency
and on fiscal harmonization.)
