Teaching Methodologies
This curricular unit mainly uses oral presentations of the subjects, using resources and content appropriate to each subject. The different
typologies and theoretical concepts covered will be illustrated with real examples, using different cases. It is also important to mention that
students are invited to intervene and share their experiences and visions during the course of the lessons. In addition, the theoreticalpractical
classes will be attended and explained by volunteers and professionals involved in different volunteering activities. People will be
invited from national and international organizations directly linked to volunteering, community social solidarity organizations, NGDOs,
government and regulatory bodies, among others. Social economy organizations will therefore be privileged.
In addition to the theoretical-practical classes, students are invited to develop the skills they have learned in social economy organizations.
In fact, volunteering activities will be practiced in the field, with the target populations identified, under tutorial guidance. It should also be
noted that initial training is provided for students, prior to their involvement in volunteering in organizations, which will cover content in the
area of developing interpersonal relationships, as well as the rights and obligations of the volunteer.
Learning Results
This course aims to encourage students to volunteer in a social context, complementing their scientific and technical training. It provides the
development of soft skills, social awareness, management of diverse teams (people from different cultural and socio-economic
backgrounds) and the development of leadership skills, all of which are valuable for future HR professionals.
The learning objectives (LO) are:
OA1)Promote cultural and social training and personal development
OA2)Raise awareness of the themes of solidarity, social responsibility, participation, commitment, justice and human and sustainable
development
OA3)To provide opportunities for the development of transversal skills
OA4)To enable a more open, constructive and critical vision as citizens with rights and responsibilities
OA5)To establish deeper, longer-lasting and more collaborative links between ISCAC and other entities involved in a more humane and
supportive community.
