Teaching Methodologies
The teaching methodology seeks to optimise student learning by trying to combine the theoretical teaching
of the syllabus with written and oral practice, simulating contexts as close to reality as possible and
encouraging their participation in class, or their sense of observation and analysis, which gives them the
autonomy to be able to continue learning outside the classroom.
Learning Results
The main aim of Spanish I is to develop basic oral and written communication skills. The aim is for students to
be able to: i) understand, orally and in writing, instructions and explanations relating to everyday and
professional contexts; ii) use basic registers in oral and written communication, distinguishing between formal
and informal contexts, and adjusting to them; iii) request and give information; iv) argue and justify in simple
contexts; v) be familiar with Spanish pronunciation and use a phonetic register that does not hinder
comprehension; vi) know basic vocabulary for everyday and professional life; vii) know customs and
translations of Spanish culture.
At the same time, the aim is to: i) encourage oral participation in Spanish in the classroom; ii) develop students’
autonomy, critical thinking and argumentative skills; and, finally, iii) provide them with strategies to facilitate
their learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
