Teaching Methodologies

  • Individual tutorial supervision, provided by a PhD Professor or Specialist appointed by the Scientific-Technical Council.
  • Follow-up sessions between supervisor and student, focused on methodological definition, project development, and critical analysis of results.
  • Independent student work, focused on project elaboration and final writing.

Learning Results

The Project aims to develop a piece of applied research, focusing on the analysis of a real organizational context. It is intended that students apply the technical and scientific knowledge acquired throughout the programme by:

  • Testing a theory in practice.
  • Applying management techniques and models in real settings.
  • Designing strategic and/or operational plans, assessing their practical suitability and contribution to the understanding of specific business phenomena.

The outcome may take the form of:

  • The writing of a real organizational case study, based on scientific methodology, addressing unique organizational phenomena analysed from a holistic and critical perspective, identifying relevant problems and potential solutions.
  • The development of a strategic or operational development project for a real company, proposing future pathways for the organization, either globally or within a specific functional area, whenever relevant.

Competences to be developed:

  • Ability to diagnose and critically analyse complex organizational phenomena.
  • Practical application of theories, concepts, and management models in real business contexts.
  • Design of original, innovative, and scientifically grounded case studies.
  • Development of strategic and operational plans with organizational impact.
  • Structured and evidence-based communication of proposals for organizational improvement.
  • Applied research skills with practical relevance and utility for organizations.

Program

The Project should include the following phases:

  • Definition of the theme and organizational problem to be investigated or addressed.
  • Literature review and theoretical framework, identifying gaps and justifying the relevance of the study.
  • Formulation of objectives and/or research questions, with emphasis on practical utility for the organization.
  • Selection of the methodological approach, which may take the form of a case study, action research, strategic development, or another suitable method.
  • Characterization of the organization or phenomenon under study, including a description of its reality and context.
  • Project development – critical analysis, application of models/theories, organizational diagnosis, and/or design of strategic or operational plans.
  • Presentation and discussion of results, including the identification of problems, solutions, and practical recommendations.
  • Conclusions and proposals for future research/action, with critical reflection on the project’s impact on the organization and applied scientific knowledge.
