Teaching Methodologies
- Individual tutorial supervision, provided by a PhD Professor or Specialist appointed by the Scientific-Technical Council.
- On-site supervision by a Supervisor from the host institution.
- Group monitoring sessions, for reflection and exchange of experiences among students.
- Workshops and thematic seminars, covering topics such as professional ethics, diagnostic and intervention methodologies, and technical and scientific writing skills.
- Independent student work, focused on internship activities and the preparation of the final report.
Learning Results
The internship follows a professional-oriented approach, responding to the requirements of certain professional organizations. Its main objective is to provide the student with a workplace training experience that facilitates future integration into the labour market, career progression, or a change of profession.
The internship report aims to document and critically analyse the activities carried out during the professional experience.
It is expected that the student will:
- Strengthen their technical and scientific competences acquired in the taught component of the master’s degree, by confronting classroom knowledge with the reality of the host institution.
- Develop essential soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Consolidate the link between theory and practice, applying management concepts and methodologies to real situations.
- Enhance their ability to perform diagnosis, planning, and proposal of organizational solutions.
- Develop the competence to write structured reports with scientific basis and practical relevance
Program
The internship report should include several sections, of which the following are highlighted:
- Introduction – theoretical framework of the work, brief presentation of the host institution, relevance of the internship, issues/problems pre-defined by the organization, objectives of the work, and structure of the report.
- Theoretical framework – review of the scientific and technical literature on the topic, definition of adopted concepts, conceptual models, applicable techniques, and critical discussion of relevant topics.
- Methodology – description of the methods and techniques used for data collection on the organization, as well as procedures for processing and analysing the information.
- The host institution – narrative of the organization’s history, characterization of its organizational reality, functional and inter-relational analysis, with emphasis on predominant functions, among other aspects considered relevant for the internship and report.
- Activities performed – description and critical analysis of the activities carried out, diagnosis of problems, comparison between the literature and the organization’s practices, identification of gaps and cultural, strategic, or behavioural deviations, and proposals for future development measures.
- Conclusions – main lessons learned from the internship, reflections on the experience, and recommendations for the future, both regarding the functions performed and the host institution.
