Financial Reporting and Sustainibility

Teaching Methodologies

The programme will be developed using active methods, involving student participation and fostering a theoretical and practical perspective
on the accounting subjects covered and financial and non-financial reporting. Examples, practical cases and case studies will be used, with
a constant call for feedback from master’s students and debate, in order to encourage reasoning and critical thinking. A speaker is invited to
one of the classes to showcase research on a topic in the programme. Group work contributes to a greater link between theory and practice
and stimulates research.
The following teaching-learning methodologies (TM) will be used:
TM1 – Expository: theoretical exposition combined with the presentation of practical examples and/or the analysis of simulated or real
cases.
TM2 – Case Studies: this method provides a practical approach, encouraging reflection and the application of theoretical concepts through
the analysis and discussion of real cases based on the literature on the subject under analysis.
TM3 – Problem-Based Learning: for some subjects, financial information from companies proposed by the lecturer will be alysed in class
and interpreted in the context of the topics under study.
TM4 – Group Work: the preparation of group work aims to develop collaborative work skills, stimulate research by searching for and reading
articles to review the supporting literature and analysing business reports for the practical/applied part of the work.
TM5 – Autonomous Work: students’ autonomous work will be encouraged (for consolidation and deepening), preparation and/or
continuation of the work of the classroom sessions and tutorial accompaniment (to support learning).
