Teaching Methodologies

The scientific approach to the proposed syllabus includes a combination of teaching and learning methods: i) Expository – presentation of the theoretical basis; and Active – active, participatory and experiential methods are favored, namely role-playing; analysis of situations proposed or presented by the students; problem-solving learning; practical workshops on emergency situations.

Students can opt for continuous assessment and will be asked to take a written test (20%) and a practical workshop (40%);

preparation and presentation of a group project involving the production of didactic materials on first aid (40%); or assessment by exam using a written test (100%).

Learning Results

Learn first aid principles and techniques for babies and children;

Plan and implement psychological first aid and bystander behavior prevention practices at school;

Prepare teaching materials on first aid and accident prevention in nursery/kindergarten/1st CEB/2nd CEB, in the light of Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 5 and 10.

Program

The organization of the Integrated Medical Emergency System (SIEM)

Approach to the victim.

First aid in situations involving: airway obstruction; basic life support; bleeding, wounds and fractures; medical illnesses; poisoning; bites; foreign bodies (nose/ears/mouth).

Principles of psychological first aid and promoting pro-social behavior.
