Teaching Methodologies
The assessment follows the provisions established in the Internal Regulations of the Higher School of Education (ESEC). Students may choose one of the following assessment modes: assessment by examination or continuous/periodic assessment (attendance-based).
1. Assessment by Examination The exam takes place at the end of the semester and covers the entire syllabus effectively taught and recorded. It consists of an individual written exam (closed-book).
2. Continuous and Periodic Assessment Continuous and periodic assessment is based on the work carried out by students throughout the semester and their participation in the daily activities of the course unit. The assessment elements are as follows:
– Individual written test (20%);
– Critical review (10%);
– Practical assignments (70%):
– Class protocols (5%);
– Group animation plans (15%);
– Application and analysis of group animation techniques (35%);
– Participation in group animation sessions (15%).
Learning Results
The Group Animation Techniques course unit aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to:
– Understand and consolidate operational concepts regarding the processes and mechanisms of group communication and animation;
– Appropriately apply communication and animation techniques in group and institutional contexts, based on a theoretical-practical methodology.
Program
1. THE GROUP: Group structures and processes; the socio-psychological nature of work groups; groups as work instruments.
2. COMMUNICATION AS A DYNAMIC GROUP PROCESS: Communication-facilitating attitudes.
3. GROUP ANIMATION TECHNIQUES:
– 3.1 Process and criteria for selecting and applying techniques:
– 3.1.1 Group knowledge (structure, development levels, size, and group context);
– 3.1.2 Definition of action objectives;
– 3.1.3 Prior knowledge and mastery of techniques;
– 3.1.4 Clarification of technical objectives;
– 3.1.5 Adapting techniques to the group;
– 3.1.6 Animator/Educator competencies.
– 3.2 Types of group animation techniques: Icebreaking (presentation), getting-to-know-each-other, affirmation, trust-building, communication, cooperation, conflict resolution, and evaluation techniques.
