Teaching Methodologies
Based on the framework presented in expository classes, theoretical-practical works are defined where students will organize in a reasoned manner the selection of physical exercises and physical activities and prepare physical activity session plans appropriate to old people. They will also guide the execution of these activities and experience some of these activities simulating situations in which they play the role of elderly people.
These activities are complemented by the elaboration of observation reports of physical activity sessions carried out by the elderly, or by reports on scientific studies related to the subjects included in the syllabus of the Gerontomotricity curricular unit.
Learning Results
1. Know concepts and explanatory theories of aging.
2. Know the effects of aging and physical drilling of motor skills, health and well-being of elderly.
3. Observe, plan, guide and test sport activities suitable at the elderly characteristics.
Program
1. Concepts and theories of aging.
2. The effects of aging on motor, anatomical and physiological level.
3. Major pathologies affecting the health, well-being and mobility of the elderly.
4. Effects of training and regular sport physical activity in motor skills and development of diseases of high prevalence in the elderly.
5. Principles and methodological models for observation, planning and guidance of sport physical activity adapted to elderly sessions.
6. Evaluation of the physical condition of the elderly.
7. Physical exercises suitable for elderly sporti physical activities.
Grading Methods
Assessment can be Continuous/Frequency (AC/F) and/or by Exam (AE). In both cases, the assessment is scored between 0 and 200 points, equivalent to a classification from 0 to 20 points.
The Continuous/Frequency Assessment results from the sum of the following assessment elements:
Element 1 - Theoretical-practical assignments - 40* to 80 points (20% - 40.0%);
Element 2 - Written test - 40** to 80 points (20% - 40.0%);
Element 3 - Fieldwork - 0 - 20 points (10.0%);
Element 4 - In-person participation - 0 - 20 points (10.0%)

Classification in AC/F = E1 + E2 + E3 + E4
Assessment by Exam (Normal, Resourse, Improvement):
1 - Only students who fulfill the practical component of the curricular unit, obtaining a positive classification (minimum of 40 points) in element 1 (Theoretical-practical works) of AC/F, are admitted to the written exam;
2 - The classification by exam is obtained by the sum of the result obtained in the practical part of the curricular unit (E1) (40-80 points) plus the classification obtained in the written exam (EE) (0 -120 points).
Exam Classification = E1 (40%) + EE (60%) = E1 (40 to 80 points, 40%) + EE (0 - 120 points, 60%) = 40 to 200 points or 4 to 20 values.
