Teaching Methodologies
The T and TP contents are taught in expository sessions supported by audiovisual resources and specialised bibliography, fostering reflection and practical application. The practical component involves experiential learning first as a participant and later as a coach through micro-teaching. The NÓNIO platform is used to provide materials, assessments, communications, and assignment submissions.
This CU is assessed exclusively by continuous evaluation [100% = 20 values] considering the following items:
1. Practical tests (50%).
2. Theoretical tests (30%).
3. Assignments/reports (20%).
Note: to be approved in the UC by continuous evaluation, the student must have a minimum of 50% in item 1. According to no. 8 of article 13 of the Academic Regulation of the 1st Cycle of Studies of ESEC, the student must meet the following conditions to be eligible for exam:
1. Have attended at least 50% of the classes.
The exam consists of a theoretical test (100%).
Learning Results
Acquisition and development of knowledge and competences in:
1. Critically analyze the historical, social, and cultural trends that gave rise to the different specialties and aspects of kayaking, and their evolution in different countries, more specifically in Portugal.
2. Identify the profile, functions, skills, and training of kayaking guides/technicians.
3. Identify and understand the main types of boats, and the different types of kayaking materials and equipment.
4. Apply appropriate methodological tools to the planning and management of kayaking programs, projects and events.
5. Know and apply the main safety requirements in kayaking activities, regarding the creation of risk and safety management plans, and knowledge of rescue and rescue techniques.
6. Know and apply the main navigation skills (hooking, vessel control, etc.) on different types of vessels in different means of practice.
