Anatomophysiology of Head and Neck

Base Knowledge

The student should have knowledge on the principals of general and human biology.

Teaching Methodologies

The classes aim to address in detail the syllabus. An actively expository methodology will be used, motivating for the direct intervention of the students. Students will be encouraged to do practical work, assisted by multimedia, with explanations and demonstrations on anatomical models.

Learning Results

The student must acquire knowledge related to anatomy and physiology of the head and neck on:
– Descriptive and topographic anatomy on different anatomical planes.
– Normal human anatomy, recognising the existence of anatomical variants.
– Using anatomical nomina
– The relationship of anatomical structures with the underlying physiological processes.

The student must acquire skills and competences related to anatomy and physiology of the head and neck to:
– Identify and describe normal anatomical structures, including variants.
– Describe anatomical structures for different systems.
– Describe physiological processes and their main changes.
– Relate anatomical structures.
– Correlate anatomical structures with their function for applications on clinical scenarios.
