Learning Results

To provide students with a broad view of the impact of information and communication technologies, in particular artificial intelligence, in the health area, with emphasis on the multiple applications of these emerging technologies in audiology.
The completion of this curricular unit will allow students to:
– Know the protocols for the implementation of a patient-centered telessaúde tool for a variety of configurations.
– Identify mobile technologies and solutions used in teleaudiology and describe the basic processes for its effective clinical implementation.
– Describe how teleaudiology can be used in the diagnosis and diagnosis of hearing loss.
– Understand the link between artificial intelligence and machine learning.
– Know the main technologies of voice recognition and the way big data and machine learning compete for its evolution.
– Know and describe basic processes of applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in hearing aids.

1. Teleaudiology
– Telehealth: remote monitoring and diagnostic tools – protocols and applicable standards.
– Teleaudiology: monitoring and diagnosis in audiology. Adjustment of hearing aids online. Mobile applications for
users of hearing aids and cochlear implants.
– Assistive device technology for people with hearing impairment, voice, speech or language disorders.

– Introduction to artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning.
– Turing Machines and Computers
– Machine learning: algorithms and decision trees
– Artificial neural nets and perceptrons
