Teaching Methodologies
Teaching is based on expository theoretical classes on the various topics, with multimedia support, allowing a
mechanistic approach to the main physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of the respiratory and
cardiovascular.
Learning Results
The student must acquire knowledge of
• Physiological bases of the functioning of the respiratory and cardiovascular system
• Main alterations of normal respiratory and cardiovascular physiology in a pathological context
The student must acquire skills in:
• Ability to integrate respiratory and cardiovascular physiological mechanisms into the normal physiology of
other organs and systems, as well as in situations of illness or increased needs
The student must acquire skills in:
• Understanding of the physiology and pathophysiology underlying the methodology and results of the various studies

Continuous assessment of the curricular unit requires the realization of 2 (two) assessment moments in the form of an individual written test, one focusing on the programmatic content of cardiac physiology and the other on the content of respiratory physiology.
The weighting of both tests is 50% and the minimum mark required for both tests is 7.5 val. The student will be admitted to the curricular unit if he/she achieves an arithmetic average of 9.5 or more values.
In case of failure or non-appearance on the dates of continuous assessment or regular season exam, students have the opportunity to apply for admission to the appeal season and finally to the special season (if eligible) within the deadlines of the applicable academic calendar and as recommended in the applicable academic regulations.
