Occupational Therapy in Physical Rehabilitation

Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical classes: Lectures on clinical conditions, occupational dysfunction in occupational therapy, and the theoretical component of assessment methodologies. Analysis and discussion of concepts inherent to the occupational therapy process.
Theoretical-practical classes: Simulated practice and role-play, under the guidance of the teacher, with the performance of the assessment tests taught combined with discussion of the theoretical content taught. Use of design thinking methodologies in case studies.

Students who obtain a minimum grade of 10 (ten), rounded up, will be considered to have passed this course unit.Continuous assessmen

Learning Results

Analyse and understand the impact of physical dysfunction on involvement in occupations, health and wellbeing;
Know and understand the methods and demonstrate the ability to assess body functions: global and specific mental, sensory and pain, and neuromusculoskeletal and related to movement, activities and participation, and environmental factors.
Record, interpret and relate the results of the assessment carried out in the area of occupational therapy in the context of physical rehabilitation.
Understand the importance of assessment in performance analysis;
Apply, execute and interpret the assessment methodologies used by occupational therapy in physical rehabilitation
Analyse and critique the assessment methodologies used by occupational therapy in physical rehabilitation based on scientific evidence.
Demonstrate occupational therapy reasoning in the area of physical rehabilitation.

Program

Methodologies for assessing bodily functions in occupational therapy in physical rehabilitation: global and specific mental functions, sensory and pain functions, and neuromusculoskeletal and movement-related functions; environmental factors; occupational performance and occupational participation.
Methodologies for assessing contexts, occupations, roles, and lifestyles in physical rehabilitation according to different contexts of practice.
Protocols for assessment, recording, and interpretation of results, application in the design of the intervention plan.
Information recording and management systems and applicability of the ICF.
Case studies and narratives
