Teaching Methodologies

Theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical classes, using expository, interrogative, demonstrative and active methodologies.

Students who obtain a minimum grade of 10 (ten), rounded up, will be considered to have passed this course unit.

Class participation (25%) + Group work (45%)+ oral test
Final assessment
Regular/resit/special exam period: individual Work (700%)+ prova oral (30%)

Learning Results

Understand the Community Empowerment Model and the Occupational Justice Model.
Explain the relationship between occupational justice, human rights, and community practices in Occupational Therapy.
Use qualitative and quantitative assessment tools to identify community needs.
Apply the principles of evidence-based practice in the design and rationale of community interventions.
Design a community health promotion programme in contexts such as health, education, work, housing and culture.
Compare different community models and approaches, identifying their advantages and limitations in specific contexts.
Analyse how social determinants of health influence access to and participation in occupational activities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of community programmes for violence prevention, mental health promotion and inclusion of people with disabilities.
Advocate for the importance of occupational justice as an ethical foundation for community practice.
