Module I: fundamentals of nutrition in women’s health (1H TP)
– Physiological and metabolic characteristics of women;
– Role of female hormones in metabolic regulation;
– Female body composition and clinical implications;
– Clinical evaluation: laboratory tests relevant to the woman.
Module II: Nutrition in adolescence and in the reproductive cycle of women (3H TP)
– Growth and development in adolescence;
– Energy and nutritional needs;
– Dietary strategies adapted to the normal woman’s reproductive cycle (e.g. premenstrual syndrome);
– Nutritional intervention in the optimization of female fertility,
Polycystic ovary and endometriosis.
Module III: Nutrition in fertility, pregnancy, postpartum and lactation (4H TP)
Nutrition in prejudice;
– Nutrition in pregnancy: recommendations and monitoring;
– Brief approach to the pathology of the pregnant woman (gestational diabetes and pregnancy-specific hypertensive disease);
– Nutrition in lactation;
– Food safety.
Module IV: food and nutrition approach in menopause and bone health/cardiovascular (3h TP + 1H TP for evaluation)
– Hormonal and metabolic changes in menopause;
– Changes in body composition and female sarcopenia;
– Nutritional strategies for the management of menopausal symptoms, and in the promotion of cardiovascular and bone health;
– Final assessment (written test).
