The methodologies will include the lecture method, discussion sessions, group learning, investigation-based tasks, project development, site visits, student presentations in class, and problem-solving exercises.

   2. Local authorities: definition; types; duties and competences in the urban-planning field
4. Municipal urban planning:
   1. Conceptual and legal framework
   2. Core operational instruments and techniques: demographic, physical, and urban analysis
5. Municipal urban management:
   1. Practices and procedures with a special focus on licensing
   2. Geographic information in urban management
6. Main diplomas in Urban Planning Law.

Assessment is organised in three modalities:

1. Continuous assessment

• Based on two written tests: the first halfway through the semester and the second at the end.
• A minimum of 30% is required in each test.
• The final grade corresponds to the arithmetic mean of both tests.
• Students who do not pass under this modality are not admitted to the regular exam, only to the resit exam.

2. Examination assessment

• Consists of a single exam (regular or resit), according to the academic calendar, which covers the entire syllabus of the curricular unit.
• The final grade is the result obtained in the exam.

3. Erasmus students

• Assessed through practical assignments (50% of the final grade), with mandatory defence, carried out during the semester.
• Complemented by a final test, to be taken at the end of the semester or in the regular or resit exam, worth 50% of the final grade.
• Each component (practical assignments and final test) requires a minimum grade of 30%.
• Only the component corresponding to the final test can be improved in the resit exam.
• The final grade is the weighted sum of both components.

In any modality, students pass if their final grade, rounded to the nearest integer, is equal to or higher than 10 out of 20.
