Base Knowledge
Knowledge about the operation of electric power systems.
Teaching Methodologies
The theoretical classes are essentially expository, covering the topics laid out in the program, with a strong interaction between the concepts and their practical application.
The theoretical-practical classes will be designed to carry out group work, in order to deepen the concepts covered in the theoretical classes. In the last week of classes, each group will make an oral presentation/discussion of the work.
Learning Results
Study the electrical generation systems, with particular focus on renewable production.
Provide students with the most important concepts about the operation of different types of power plants.
Provide students with the knowledge of the rules to carry out studies of economic analysis of projects for electricity generation units.

Curricular Unit Teachers
Rita Manuela da Fonseca Monteiro PereiraGrading Methods
The assessment methodology for this course unit is through continuous and periodic assessment. Students who do not fulfill the requirements of the group assessment will have an NA (Not Admitted) on the Attendance Record.
The group assessment will be carried out through the completion of assignments during the Practical classes and has a weight of 35% in the final grade, requiring a minimum of 3.25 points out of 7. The assignment will only be accepted if the number of unjustified absences from Practical classes does not exceed 20% of the classes actually taught. The presentation and discussion of the practical assignments will take place at a time to be arranged with the students. Assignments completed in previous years will not be accepted.
The individual assessment, referring to the theoretical and theoretical-practical part taught during the Theoretical classes, can be carried out throughout the semester (two tests) as long as the number of unjustified absences from Theoretical classes does not exceed 20% of the classes actually taught, or it can be carried out during the various exam periods. This assessment has a weight of 65% in the final grade, requiring a minimum of 5.75 points out of 13.
The final grade is assigned through the weighting of the results obtained in the individual and group assessment, and it is mandatory to achieve a grade equal to or higher than 9.5 points out of 20.
Students with Special Educational Needs will be assessed in ways or conditions appropriate to their situation, without jeopardizing the correct assessment of the skills and knowledge to be evaluated.
