Base Knowledge
Students must have basic knowledge regarding Electrical Installations subjects
Teaching Methodologies
Expository methods with examples of methodologies
Group work
Discussion of common problems and search for appropriate technical-economic compromise solutions, respecting the uniqueness of each project and engineering solutions.
Learning Results
Design of low-voltage electrical infrastructures;
Use computer-aided design tools (e.g., AutoCAD) for laying out electrical conduits;
Develop support tools for designing electrical conduits (e.g., Excel);
Use commercial tools for sizing low-voltage electrical installations (e.g., Simaris Suite by Siemens);
Understand design and application principles of other installations related to the electrotechnical field, identify technical solutions, and ensure their compatibility with design and dimensioning aspects (ITED, video intercoms, elevators, etc…).
Program
1. Standardization and Regulation within the scope of LV and MV electrical installations;
2. Connection to the public service network of LV and MV.
3. Equipment, materials, apparatus.
4. Emergency and safety generators. Emergency networks.
5. Design of distribution infrastructures (Urbanization and Public Lighting), of multi-family buildings, and industrial installation.
6. Automatic safety systems, automation, and home automation.
7. Electric vehicle charging infrastructures
Curricular Unit Teachers
Carlos Jorge Coelho TeixeiraGrading Methods
The final grade will be based on AvEx and AvTrab, with weights of 25% and 75% respectively, where:
AvEx = written exam grade with Regulation consultation allowed (paper only), graded out of 20 points, with a minimum of 8 points
AvTrab = grade for the evaluation of the submitted works (projects), delivered within the indicated deadlines, with weights to be defined according to the volume and complexity of the works to be distributed, graded out of 20 points
important notes:
Each work will receive a summary assessment, with the result being ACCEPTED / NOT ACCEPTED
Accepted works will be evaluated on a percentage scale and, if justified, feedback will be provided on aspects that could be improved
Works that are not accepted will not be graded, but students will receive information on the reasons for non-acceptance.
Having one or more works not accepted will result in the grade "NRC - does not meet requirements" and, consequently, failing the course unit
Students who fail the AvEx component will have to retake the assessment (at least) for this component in any of the exam periods following the one they failed;
students who fail the AvTrab component will need to correct the work(s) graded with NRC and resubmit them for review.
Students who passed but want to improve their grade can retake one or more assessment components, with the grade for each component retaken always being the most recent one; if the overall grade ends up lower than the one obtained when passing, the previous grade will always prevail.

Bibliography
All items listed are in Portuguese language, once they are related to portuguese regulamentation;
Alternative sources can be discussed with foreign students, depending on their origins, to cover part of the subjects to learn, making their approach close to their own reality.
