Base Knowledge
Basic knowledge of semiconductor devices.
Circuit analysis techniques.
Teaching Methodologies
Theorethical: Presentation with slides and whiteboard, interacting as much as possible with the students.
Practical/Laboratory: Problem solving plus experimental lab works with technical report.
Learning Results
Goals
Know and understand the functioning of the various semiconductor devices and its application in medium to high complexity electronic systems.
Analysis and design of electronic circuits in medium to high complexity is also a goal to achieve.
Skills
Understand and interpret technical specifications of the components used in electronic circuits.
Know, analyze, design and implement analog electronic circuits of medium to high complexity, namely: oscillators, DC power sources, linear and non-linear systems based on Operational Amplifiers and composite amplifiers (differential and push-pull).
Use simulation tools (Spice).
Know and use correctly test and measurement equipment.
Develop the ability to do group work and to write technical reports
Program
1. Oscillator circuits
2. Operational amplifiers in linear and non-linear applications.
3. Analysis of composite amplifiers (Differential, Push-Pull and cascode)
4. DC Power sources and voltage Regulators (linear and switched): discrete and integrated.
Curricular Unit Teachers
António Luis Ferreira MarquesGrading Methods
Grade (20 points), divided in the following way
* FE - Final Exam (15 points, minimum 6 points) OR D - Distributed - 2 tests (7.5 points each one, with global minimum of 6 points)
* L -Laboratory Works – pré-lab plus report (5 points, minimum 2.5 points);
Final Grade = FE or D (0..15) + L (0..5)
Additional information - students that choose distributed evaluation don't have access to Época Normal; In Época de Recurso they can respond of one of the parts or to all exam questions.
To access to any of exam dates the student must get a minimum grade of 2.5 points in Laboratory classes.
Maximum number of classes failed in laboratory is equal to two.
Students covered by special regimes must define with the UC responsible on the alternative assessment method for the laboratory component, until the end of the first week of classes. The presence limits in these cases will not apply.
