Base Knowledge

Given that one of the objectives of this UC is for students to be able to apply and interconnect the knowledge acquired throughout the course, it is essential to overpower the knowledge of the contents of structural UC to make it possible to apply an integrative approach in the development of a certain engineering project.

Teaching Methodologies

Students are encouraged to carry out bibliographical research that allows them to know and acquire the necessary scientific bases and to substantiate this knowledge in the context of the work they will develop. The use of computer applications or automatic calculation programs, existing or to be developed by the students, for the calculation and dimensioning of project elements is valued. The execution of physical models – Prototypes – is also valued.

Whenever possible, project work is carried out in collaboration with companies or other entities outside ISEC to promote students’ interaction skills with the different realities of the various sectors of the economy and areas of knowledge.

As a general rule, each student will be accompanied and guided by a teacher of the curricular unit. However, taking into account the comprehensive character that characterizes this UC in terms of the different areas of knowledge that it may encompass, students may be guided by more than one UC professor, although there is always one person in charge.

The teaching methods, based on practical projects and supervised internships, promote the direct application of knowledge, the
development of technical skills, and interpersonal competencies, effectively aligning with the learning objectives.

Program

Project: is a practical work focused on the specific field of the Electromechanical Engineering course. Centered on the analysis of a technical need or problem, it emphasizes the conceptual and theoretical-methodological dimensions and the ability to formulate innovative solutions.
The work will be concluded with the submission of a final technical report.
Internship: is conducted in a business environment, aiming to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to solve real problems, adding value to the company’s operations.

During the internship: Regular meetings are held between the student, the academic advisor, and the company supervisor to monitor progress; Practical application of innovative techniques and effective resolution of business challenges is promoted.
The internship concludes with the presentation of a detailed final report, documenting the activities carried out, the results obtained, and the contributions to the organization.

Grading Methods

Evaluation

The knowledge assessment is based on a set of factors considered important in the context of the skills to be acquired by students in the course of teaching the UC, namely:

• Motivation, innovation, critical thinking and participation throughout the development of the work;

• Provision in the mid-term analysis (report* and presentation) of the project;

• The quality of the final project report*;

• Provision in the public presentation and final discussion of the project report;

• The execution of a physical model or proof of concept will be valued;

• The writing of a technical-scientific paper will be valued.

1. Intercalate Evaluation

a) Submission for each group to the respective supervisor of a work plan schedule until the end of the 3rd school week;

b) Submission for each group to the respective supervisor of an intercalate report until the end of the 8th school week;

2 Final Evaluation

 a) the delivery of the final report, which will include supporting documentation (drawings, programs, ...), must occur by the last day of the academic semester. The final report must be submitted in .pdf format to INFORESTUDANTE and, additionally, sent by email to the advisor in editable format. Furthermore, a complete folder with the original files produced (3D, 2D CAD, calculation files, machining, printing, etc…) must be sent/shared with the supervisor;

b) The presentation and discussion of the final project report will be carried out before a jury with at least 2 professors in addition to the supervisor. The time allocated to the presentation should be between 10 and 15 minutes; and the discussion will have a maximum duration of 45 minutes.
