Base Knowledge

 

 

There are no necessary prerequisites to attend this course unit.

Teaching Methodologies

 

Some teaching strategies will involve:

• Speaking in classes (drilling, repetition, spontaneous speaking activities)
• In-class individual and group work
• Debates, games, discussion on cultural aspects
• Playing out real life situations, role-play
• Games (puzzles, Kahoot, dominoes…)
• Reading and writing exercises
• Listening exercises

 

Learning Results

 

In this semester, students will acquire skills equivalent to the first half of level A1. After completing the semester, students should be able to:

-introduce themselves and others
-understand and fill out forms
-master the conjugation of the main verbs in the present tense
-ask and answer questions
-create sentences with a degree of complexity (with some connectors and negative pronouns, adverbs of time and/or place)
-talk about their family
-go to a restaurant
-describe eating habits
-speak simply about their profession/degree (life at college, subjects, places)
-make appointments
-recognize numbers
-recognize and apply definite and indefinite articles

Grading Methods

 

Continuous assessment:

60% = 2 written tests (2x30%)
30% = oral presentation
10% = attendance, participation and homework.
75% of attendance and you may skip a maximum of 6 classes.
If a student fails continuous assessment, he/she may only write the second exam (Época de Recurso).
When writing the second exam, whichever points were obtained during continuous assessment are ignored.

Final assessment:
When choosing this evaluation type, students may write both exams (Época Normal and Época Recurso).

Every exam implies a written part (80%) and a spoken part (20%). If possible, the speaking will be done right after the written test.
