Teaching Methodologies

In classes, the expository method is used in the teaching/learning process of fundamental knowledge about technical drawing. Complemented by exercises on the subjects taught with a discussion of solutions.

Learning Results

Objectives: Provide fundamental concepts that allow students to read, understand, interpret and create drawings and technical schemes, in orthogonal projections and in perspectives. It is also intended that they become aware of the main international standards associated with Technical Drawing and that they have knowledge of the latest 3D modeling computer-aided design programs.

Generic skills: Promote the exchange of ideas and discussion of problems and solutions; Develop self-learning habits and organization.

Specific skills: Know how to interpret and create drawings and technical schemes, either using traditional means or using the latest 3D computer-aided design programs.

Grading Methods

The assessment can be done by 2 tests performed at the end of each of the two modules that make up the program: 1st - Notions of Technical Design (50% of classes) and 2nd - 3D Parametric Modelling (50% of classes). The arithmetic mean of the tests must be greater than 9.5/20 values and in none of the tests the grade can be less than 7.5/20 values.

In order to have access to assessment through tests, the student must maintain a minimum attendance of 75% of class hours preceding each test and submit made exercises at the end of each class. The exercises made during classes will be included in the final grade.

Additionally, the evaluation can be done by exam, in the different periods foreseen, where they will have to obtain a grade equal to or greater than 9.5/20 values, with minimum values in each of the modules, where a grade equal to or greater than 7.5/20 values is required, in each of them.

During exam periods, the student may only take the module in which did not obtain a sufficient grade (>=9.5) to pass the previous assessment.

In the tests of the Notions of Technical Design module, consultation elements or the use of digital equipment are not allowed; the tests of the 3D Modelling module in Computer Aided Design are carried out with the aid of a computer and, likewise, consultation elements are not allowed.
