Projeto

Teaching Methodologies

This curricular unit is essentially based on supervised autonomous work. Following the initial definition of objectives and main activities, the student develops the project under the supervision of a faculty advisor. Periodic follow-up meetings are held, during which objectives, methodologies, difficulties and intermediate results are discussed. The process favours active learning, the resolution of technical problems and the progressive integration of technical knowledge acquired throughout the degree.
The project also involves the progressive development of a technical deliverable (prototype, model, simulation, technical study or equivalent), whose preliminary versions are discussed during follow-up meetings, promoting learning by doing and the integration of knowledge.

Learning Results

The Project is focused on the development of an applied technical-scientific work, without mandatory integration in a business context.
By the end of this curricular unit, students should be able to:
– Apply the knowledge acquired throughout the degree to solving real problems.
– Analyse specific situations and propose solutions, justifying the options taken.
– Promote the exchange of ideas and the discussion of problems.
– Communicate the work developed clearly and in a structured manner, both orally and in writing.
– Demonstrate a professional, ethical and responsible attitude in academic or professional contexts.
– Develop habits of self-learning and autonomous work management.

Program

The programmatic content of each project is specific to each student and must fall within the core areas of Industrial Engineering and Management. The project involves the development of a technical, scientific or applied work, without mandatory integration in a company or organisation, based on the practical application of knowledge and competences acquired during the degree. It includes the preparation of an academic monograph with the definition of objectives, methods and tools appropriate to each case, a relevant theoretical framework and the presentation of results and conclusions. In addition to the written monograph, students must produce a technical deliverable appropriate to the topic (e.g., physical or digital prototype, modelling or simulation, technical study, implementation plan or equivalent).

Bibliography

EN: The bibliography and other study resources will be selected according to the topic of each individual project, based on the student’s autonomous search of high-quality technical and scientific sources (indexed journal articles, specialised books and relevant standards) to support the framing and development of the work, complemented by suggestions provided by the supervising professor(s).
