Teaching Methodologies
This curricular unit is essentially based on supervised autonomous work. Following the initial definition of objectives and main activities, the student develops the internship under the supervision of a faculty advisor and a supervisor at the host entity. Periodic follow-up meetings are held, during which objectives, methodologies, difficulties and partial results are discussed. The process prioritises active learning, real problem-solving and the progressive integration of technical knowledge acquired throughout the degree.
Learning Results
The Internship involves the student’s integration into a company or organization, with the practical application of knowledge in a real professional context.
By the end of this curricular unit, students should be able to:
– Apply the knowledge acquired throughout the degree to solving real-world problems.
– Analyse concrete situations and propose solutions, justifying the options taken.
– Promote the exchange of ideas and discussion of problems.
– Develop teamwork skills within the company and comply with safety rules.
– Communicate the work developed clearly and in a structured manner, both orally and in writing.
– Demonstrate a professional, ethical and responsible attitude in academic or professional contexts.
– Develop habits of self-learning and autonomous work management.
Program
The programmatic content of each internship is specific to each student and must fall within the core subject areas of Industrial Engineering and Management. The internship presupposes the student’s integration into a company or organization, aiming at the development of professional work involving the practical application of knowledge and skills acquired during the degree. It includes the preparation of an academic monograph with the definition of objectives, methods and tools appropriate to each case, a relevant theoretical framework and the presentation of results and conclusions.
