Teaching Methodologies

The curricular unit is intended to include:
– Lectures presenting and explaining theoretical and practical concepts;
– Problem-solving classes with guidance on practical exercises;
– Development in the classroom, with guidance on practical work.

Learning Results

Objectives:
To develop general knowledge in the field of Economics by understanding its fundamental principles;
Reflect on macroeconomic information and its impact on companies and families;
Apply the theoretical concepts of economics to the real world;
Have the ability to solve concrete problems, not only as consumers, but also from the point of view of the producer;
Know the realities of the Portuguese and world economies;
Understand the importance of sustainability and the circular economy.
Skills:
Know Economic Science and its postulates;
Understand the rational decisions of consumers and producers;
Know and differentiate between the various types of market;
Interpret the activities of the State;
Know the evolution of the Portuguese and world economy;
Analyze indicators and be critical of the macroeconomic environment;
Interpret simple economic articles (including information in the press) and take part in debates.
