Teaching Methodologies

TEACHING METHODS

The teaching methodology is based on two learning processes:

Affirmative method, in theoretical-practical classes, in which knowledge is transmitted using the exposition and demonstration of subjects inherent to each chapter.

Active method, based on the principle of self-training, in which the student resorts to the analysis and testing of experimental models, fostering intellectual training and practical skills.

The teaching methodologies to be adopted are intended to be diversified and include the expository aspect, group work, individual research work and consequent presentation, as well as the realization of a larger project for the requalification of a public space.

Learning Results

The learning objectives focus on acquiring knowledge and understanding of the concepts that shape urban territory, particularly regarding:

   – The role and evolution of cities in time and space, the forces that have shaped their development, and the challenges they face today;

   – Knowledge of the various elements that make up the urban geography of the built environment of cities and their public and private dimensions;

   – Identification of urban planning forms and instruments, particularly in Portugal;

   – The use of elementary demographic analysis techniques.
