Teaching Methodologies
The expository and inquisitive method is used when explaining the different concepts in the theoretical-practical classes, analyzing case studies. The practical group works, to be carried out by the students, intend to essentially consist of concrete applications of the studied subjects. In classes the students will be assisted, by clarifying theoretical doubts, monitoring of analyzes and guidance of practical work, following a methodology of self-learning and communication.

- Understand the decision-making processes of citizens in the context of mobility;
- Identify and understand innovative measures for sustainable urban mobility, as part of a low carbon policy;

Program
1 – Framework for mobility issues: basic concepts; the transport system and urban logistics; land use and implications for mobility; transport planning tools; sustainable mobility plans;
2 – Mobility management: promoting road safety (accident indicators, detection of accident black spots, interventions to improve road safety); operations management (intersections, traffic calming and parking); intelligent transport systems;
3 – Sustainable mobility: policies to encourage the use of public transport (notions of public road transport planning, user information systems, multi- and intermodality, shared transport, modal interfaces); active mobility (policies and action plans, good practices for design and operation); electric mobility (policies and action plans, technological aspects of energy sources, road forms, European programmes).

Assessment will be based on practical work carried out throughout the semester, which must be presented and discussed orally, as well as on a final examination. Each of these components is graded on a percentage scale (0 to 100%).
The practical work will essentially be carried out in class, and student attendance is strongly encouraged in order to maximise their grade, including presentations and oral discussions. Students who are unable to carry out the work in class (e.g. working students) may carry it out individually, subject to an oral presentation. Failure to complete one or more of the assignments will result in a deduction of the respective marks, down to a minimum mark of 0% for that component.
The final exam mark (EF) will account for 60% of the final mark (NF) and the practical work mark (TP) will account for 40%. The final mark will be determined by NF = 60%×EF + 40%×TP, if EF is greater than or equal to 42.5%, or NF = EF, otherwise. Approval requires that NF be greater than or equal to 47.5% (corresponding to 9.5 points out of 20). TP grades will be valid in any of the exam periods in which a student participates.
