Teaching Methodologies

1- Theoretical classes: Presentation of fundamental concepts and techniques for analysis and design, enabling students to acquire essential skills for practical classes. Some low- and medium-complexity digital circuits will also be designed, including adders, subtractors, multipliers, and various state machines.

2- Practical classes: Solving exercises, particularly focusing on the analysis and design of low-complexity combinational and sequential circuits, and their implementation through individual and/or group practical assignments.

Learning Results

It is intended that students acquire skills regarding the basic principles of digital systems at the level of information representation and logical operations, as well as skills that enable them to understand the elements that constitute the computer at the scale of digital electronic circuits.

Program

  1. Introduction to digital systems;
  2. Digital representation of information;
  3. Boolean algebra and logic gates;
  4. Truth tables and Karnaugh maps;
  5. Combinational circuits;
  6. Sequential circuits;
  7. Counters.

Grading Methods

In the calculation of the final grade, continuous assessment is weighted at 100%.

To pass the course, students must achieve a minimum final grade of 47.5%.

The process of collecting information, used continuously and systematically for assessment purposes, consists of the direct observation of the work performed by students in the classroom, based on the tasks, activities, and worksheets proposed, as well as the content reflected in the digital portfolio to be developed by the students.

The digital portfolio accounts for 40% of the grade, and the individual final project/work (including presentation and defense) also accounts for 40%.

All observed and collected information, derived from different tools and processes, contributes to the assessment of competencies.
