Internship

As described in art. 45 of the current regulation “Only students who have passed at least 72 ECTS of the set of UC of the FGC and FT Components that make up the study plan are admitted to attend the FCT Component.” These credits ensure a fraction of curricular units and respective learning that guarantees acceptable performance during the internship.

30 hours are taught in person; the remaining 720 are internship in a work context in monitoring entities with protocols.

The initial 30 contact hours will involve content exposure, practical work in editing tools to support the preparation of reports and presentations, as well as the development of a project followed by the preparation of a written work and a presentation/defense of the same.

The main objective of the Training in a Work Context component is to integrate the student into the daily life of a host company/institution. The aim is for students to deepen their technical and social skills (soft skills), in the performance of tasks and in interpersonal relationships in the entities that welcome them. Students must be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the general training and technical training components in order to implement technical solutions that effectively respond to the proposed problems.

Each internship will consist of the practical application of the knowledge and skills acquired in the curricular units belonging to the general and scientific training and technical training components. The syllabus of this subject depends on the specific internship undertaken by each student, and is specified in the internship proposal presented by the company and validated by the study cycle coordination committee.

The assessment procedures are defined in the Academic Regulations for Higher Professional Technical Courses of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (orders no. 7283/2019 and no. 9792/2022 published by the IPC in DR).
