In theory­ classes the expository method. In the pratical classes the students will be encouraged to do independent research and the students will resolve practical papers. 

Understand the theoretical and practical concepts of cartography, topography and geographic information systems. Understand other means used in acquisition, analysis, representation and management of spatial data.

1. Concepts of Cartography and geodesy.
2. Systems Referencing Coordinates.
3. Geographic data surveys. Topographic surveys and Global Navigation Satellite Systems.
4. Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
5. Raster and vector spatial data models.
6. Spatial analysis: vector and rasters.
7. Representation and analysis of relief.

Assessment by final exam.

Normal Exam: The final grade will = 0.3 Ti + 0.7*Exam Grade

Grade Ti (0-20 values) will be the average of 3 individual works carried out in classes throughout the semester. Of the various works carried out in classes, 3 will be randomly chosen to be evaluated. If the student was not present in the class where any of the Tis were carried out, he or she will only be able to submit one assignment at the end of the semester, suffering a 50% penalty in the grade for that assignment.

Other Exam: The final grade will be the Final Exam grade.

To conclude the assessment, the student may also be asked to take an oral defense grade.
