Teaching Methodologies

The exposition of the contents is essentially carried out during the theoretical classes, using as main support the projection of slides or transparencies. In the conduct of these classes, the participation of students is often raised through the formulation of questions that lead them to reflect on the different subjects treated and creating opportunities for clarification of doubts.
In the theoretical-practical classes, application problems are solved allowing students to contact with practical issues and critical analysis of the results obtained.
Presentation of case studies by students.
Lectures by industry professionals.

Learning Results

The objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge on the organization and management of the maintenance of hospital physical assets. It is intended that students, at the end of this curricular unit, develop skills that allow them, in conceptual and practical terms, to understand the concepts related to this theme, such as:
– Grasp the tools for managing the maintenance of hospital physical assets that allow optimizing their life cycles;
– Learn the management tools to optimize the acquisitions and replacements of hospital physical assets;
– Grasp the diagnostic tools of the state of maintenance that allow to reorganize a maintenance department;
– Learn to apply the maintenance standards that allow the certification of maintenance services;
– Learn to use dynamic modelling techniques to solve complex problems of maintenance of hospital physical assets.

Program

1. The organisation, management and control of maintenance;
2. Maintenance planning – the various types of planning; implementation of a planning strategy;
3. Reliability-concepts; reliability of components and equipment, repairable and non-repairable; serial and parallel networks; FMECA analysis;
4. Maintenance Organization and management models-5S; TPM (Total Productive Maintenance); Lean maintenance;
5. Diagnosis of maintenance status;
6. The management of the life cycle of physical assets-LCI (Life Cycle Investment) versus definition of a maintenance policy;
7. NP 4492/2010 – NP 4483:2009; NP EN 13269:2007; NP EN 13306:2007; NP EN 13460:2009; NP EN 15341: 2009; CEN / TR 15628:2007;
8. ISO 5500x versus NP 4492 and supporting standards-lifecycle management of physical assets; purchase of equipment; preparation of specifications-selection-reception and installation – user training;
9. Dynamic Modeling-fault trees; Markov chains; Petri Nets.
