Teaching Methodologies
The contents are presented in theoretical classes, primarily using slide projections. Student participation is encouraged through questions that lead them to reflect on the different topics covered and create opportunities for clarifying doubts. In Theoretical-Practical (TP) classes, application problems are solved, allowing students to engage with practical issues and critically analyse the results obtained. Some class time in TP classes is used for research work, using scientific bibliographic sources, with a view to preparing group work reports.
Learning Results
To provide students with knowledge about Strategic Management of Physical Assets. The aim is for them to develop skills that allow them to: understand what a long-term vision in physical asset management is; how to develop a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP); the role of stakeholders; how to conduct an investment analysis; how to assess and quantify risk; how to prepare a Terms of Reference; how to use PERT/GERT/GERT; how to use life cycle models; how to strategically assess the sustainability aspect in asset management; and understand the legal, social, environmental, and economic requirements in Asset Management.
