The curricular unit combines various methodologies to support learning, articulating expository moments with practical and participatory activities:
• Presentation and explanation of fundamental concepts in operations and logistics management, using dialogue to clarify doubts and encourage participation.
• Demonstration of examples and use of audiovisual resources and company case studies to illustrate the practical application of concepts such as planning, forecasting, inventory management, logistics, quality, and lean management.
• Solving exercises and problems related to planning, demand forecasting, inventory management, MRP, scheduling, logistics, and quality.
• Holding debates and simulations of operational decision-making situations.
• Analysis of practical cases to foster critical discussion and the development of applied skills.
• Inclusion of debates on Industry 4.0 and emerging trends in logistics.

1. Understand the importance of operations and logistics management in the context of organisational competitiveness, and recognise the planning and control functions within operations management.
2. Apply basic scheduling methodologies.
3. Apply inventory management methodologies.
4. Recognise the importance and usefulness of quality management.
5. Understand the principles of Lean Management and their practical application.
6. Analyse criteria and models for facility location decisions.

Continuous Assessment
1. At least 50% class attendance.
2. One written test (35%).
3. Assignment 1 (15%).
4. Assignment 2 (20%).
5. Assignment 3 (25%).
6. Participation in class discussions and proposed activities (5%), awarded based on the student’s active engagement, considering attendance, the quality of contributions, critical thinking skills, and the ability to relate content to the internship context. The maximum grade in this component requires attendance equal to or higher than 75%.
NOTE: Students with officially recognised worker-student status are not required to comply with minimum attendance. Whenever continuous assessment includes a classroom participation component in which they do not take part, the respective weight is redistributed among the remaining assessment components.
Final Exam
• Individual written exam (100%).
