IMPAR

Description

Action: KA2 Capacity Building

Women in Sub-Saharan Africa often turn to self-employment as a way to overcome the lack of job opportunities. However, they tend to have insufficient management and socio-emotional skills and are less inclined to compete, which limits the contribution of their businesses to growth and development.

Unemployment is a significant social challenge, particularly among women and young people. While social enterprises are key players in creating inclusive employment and decent work, the social economy ecosystem remains underdeveloped.

Through the contribution of universities, the IMPAR project aims to boost the social economy ecosystem in Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Angola by empowering and supporting young women to create, manage, and expand social enterprises that pursue environmental sustainability and socially inclusive development (referred to as green or eco-inclusive social entrepreneurship).

This project seeks to achieve two main outcomes. The first is the design and implementation of two training courses to equip young Sub-Saharan African women with essential soft skills, management skills, and networking opportunities to successfully create, manage, and expand social businesses that pursue socially inclusive development goals. The second is the establishment of a virtual incubation and acceleration programme, to be implemented by Sub-Saharan African universities, to improve the structural conditions for social entrepreneurship among young women.

IMPAR aims to reduce barriers to female entrepreneurship, expand the social innovation ecosystem, and increase the contribution of the social economy to the inclusive and sustainable development of Mozambique, Cape Verde, and Angola. Furthermore, it seeks to establish partner universities as catalysts for eco-inclusive entrepreneurship and empower a new generation of women entrepreneurs to drive economic growth and job creation while pursuing social benefits and protecting the environment.
