Course Objectives
The general objective of the degree in Clinical Physiology is to qualify students for an independent, autonomous and differentiated professional activity of today’s professions of Cardiopneumology and Neurophysiology Technician. This degree will provide the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competences needed for the roles defined in the Portuguese legislation, in particular act “in accordance with the clinical indication, pre diagnose, diagnose and research or identification process, they have to conceive, plan, organize, implement and assess the working process within the respective profession, with the objective of health promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration “(Decree-Law No. 564/99). This professional will have the possibility of movement in the European and world space since the access to the profession is similar in European countries, corresponding to the level 6 of the European qualifications framework.
Access Conditions
The national contest of access to public higher education, with admission exams in the following sets: 02 Biology and Geology or 02 Biology and Geology and 07 Physics and Chemistry or 02 Biology and Geology and 16 Mathematics. For the application is required the minimum rating of 95 points, in the admission test and application note, expressed on a scale of 0 to 200 points. The formula for calculating comprises 65% of the high school average and 35% of admission test. Regional preference corresponds to 20% of the vacancies, within the area of influence of Aveiro, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Guarda, Leiria and Viseu.
Professional Outlets
The completion of the degree’s syllabus on Clinical Physiology entitles the admission to the professions of Cardiopneumology technician and Neurophyology technician regulated by Decree-Laws 261/93 of 24 July and 564/1999, of december 21, under the Dispatch 9363/2016 of 18th of july. The professional cards shall be required to the Ministry of Health through the CAHS (Central Administration of the Health System).

Learning Objectives
Intended learning outcomes (knowledge, skills and competences) to be developed by the students: The profile of generic competences to acquire has as reference to the European Qualifications Framework-EQF LEVEL, defined by the Ordinance 782/2009. The profile defined must respect the professional content contained in the Portuguese legislation for the Cardiopneumology and Neurophysiology Technician (Decree-Law No. 564/99). The knowledge refers to the theory and the development of a critical spirit of the theories and principles of its scientific area. The skills are allusive to the cognitive knowledge (using a logical, intuitive and creative thought) and practical (manual dexterity and handling of equipment and tools), creating professionals able to solve complex and unpredictable problems in their scientific field of expertise. The competences refer to the responsibility and autonomy of the Licentiate in Clinical Physiology, being able to make decisions and assume responsibility for management and professional development.
Access to Superior Studies
The graduate degree allows the application to postgraduate studies.
