Course Objectives
The CTeSP in AQB intends to train technicians / superior professionals who autonomously, under guidance or as part of a team, plan and carry out sampling, carry out basic and qualitative and quantitative physical-chemical and microbiological analysis tests aimed at chemical, environmental and food industry, selecting the most appropriate instrumentation, methods and techniques for this purpose. They must also be able to record, critically interpret and clearly expose the main results and conclusions, implementing procedures for the assessment and quality control of methodologies and for managing the laboratory’s stock management.
The CTeSP in AQB has a total of 120 credits and lasts for four curricular semesters of student work, consisting of a set of curricular units organized in components of general and scientific training, technical training and training in the workplace. The last (4th) semester is completed entirely by an internship / project with the preparation of an original report and public defense.
Access Conditions
The CTeSP in AQB is a cycle of higher studies, not conferring an academic degree, with a duration of 2 years, with 120 ECTS (credits attributed within the scope of the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System), whose completion, with success, leads the award of a Higher Professional Technician Diploma. It is regulated through Decree – Law No. 63/2016, of 13 November.
In accordance with the provisions of articles 40-E and 40-F of Decree-Law no. 63/2016 of 13 September, the following may apply for access to higher professional technical courses: a) a secondary education or legally equivalent qualification course; b) Those who have passed the specially appropriate tests, designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for those over the age of 23, held for the course in question, under the provisions of Decree-Law No. 64 / 2006, of March 21, as amended by Decree-Laws No. 113/2014, of July 16, and 63/2016, of September 13. Holders of a technological specialization diploma, a higher professional technician diploma or a higher education degree may also apply for access to higher professional technical courses. Students who complete vocational training courses at secondary or equivalent level in schools and other entities networked with an institution providing polytechnic education have priority in occupying up to 50% of the vacancies that are fixed in the higher professional technical courses it teaches and for which they meet the entry conditions. The admission conditions, the way to check your satisfaction and the rules to which they are subject are fixed by the legally and statutory competent body of the higher education institution.
