Emerging Topics in Physiotherapy

Teaching Methodologies

Exhibition, to present the topics/ contents, raise problems and guide the group discussion; Use of good practice examples to illustrate topics/content;
Continuous evaluation: students are evaluated through a written paper that critically analyses an approach framed in topics and/or emerging areas of Physiotherapy;
Evaluation by exam.

Learning Results

After completing the curricular unit, the student should know, understand and be able to:
Recognize topics and areas of intervention emerging from the physiotherapist;
Critically analyse new approaches and relate to evidence-informed practice; Evaluate the available evidence on the topics and emerging areas presented.
Thus, obtaining affective skills and competencies: growth of emotional/behavioral and attitude areas; cognitive: reflective mental performance and knowledge.

Program

Presentation of emerging topics in Physiotherapy associated with digital health and new technologies – telephysiotherapy, virtual reality, remote monitoring, artificial intelligence; person-centered practice (personalized intervention); interprofessional practice; advocacy; humanitarian support and disaster situations; mental health; women’s health; dermatology, oncology, among others.
