Course Objectives
To develop current and innovative professional practices in the scientific area of Audiology, based on three distinct areas of specialization: Central Auditory Processing; Vestibulogy and Vestibular Rehabilitation; and Audiology and Cognition;
To develop research skills, especially associated with the study, development and application of innovative practices in the scientific area of specialization in Central Auditory Processing; Vestibulogy and Vestibular Rehabilitation; and Audiology and Cognition;
To develop skills and attitudes appropriate for working in multi and interdisciplinary team contexts;
To develop work strategies that add value to the institutions with which they collaborate, as recommended in the Coimbra Health School mission.
Access Conditions
a) Holders of a degree in Audiology or legal equivalent;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor’s degree in the area mentioned in paragraph a) by the Coimbra Health School Technical-Scientific Council;
c) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized as attesting the ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the Coimbra Health School Technical-Scientific Council.

Learning Objectives
a) To develop and apply current and innovative professional practices in the scientific area of Audiology, based on scientific evidence, centered on the user, with the involvement of the family;
b) To demonstrate competence in technology, including the use of equipment and new software adjusted to clinical practice and according to the user’s individual needs;
c) To collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams to develop user-oriented services, meeting their needs;
d) To provide ethical and legal advice to individuals and families affected by Central Auditory Processing Disorders; or due to vestibular disorders or disorders related to cognition, namely cognitive decline and dementia, considering confidentiality and application of free and informed consent;
g) To carry out research that promotes innovation and validity of products and services for the prevention, evaluation, and (re)habilitation of hearing, vestibular components and cognition.

This qualification allows access to the degree of Doctor (3rd Cycle of Studies)
