Course Objectives
The Degree in Informatics Engineering – European Course is a 3-year course in Computer Science for students who wish to study in two European countries, making it possible to obtain a double degree. The aim is to prepare students for leadership roles in developing information systems in a modern and digital Europe.
The participating institutions are universities and polytechnics in Finland (Turku), France (Blois and Metz), Germany (Hamburg), Portugal (Coimbra), Spain (Burgos), Romania (Timisoara) and Italy (Venice). Each institution should essentially provide the same skills in the first two years – common core, in order to facilitate student mobility. In the third and final year, students attend a specialization program offered by each institution.
The agreement currently involves the following institutions:
– Turun ammattikorkeakoulu, Turku, Finland;
– Université de Tours, France;
– Université de Lorraine, Metz/Nancy, France;
– Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften, Hamburg, Germany;
– Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, Venice, Italy;
– Instituto Politécnico de Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal;
– Universitatea de Vest din Timisoara, Timisoara, Romania;
– Universidad de Burgos, Burgos, Spain;
The curriculum plan is organized in six academic semesters, the first four with basic curricular units, common to all students. The last two semesters correspond to a specialization.
At ISEC, the final semester of the study plan includes the “Project” curricular unit, in which students have the possibility to carry out an internal project with a research component whose evaluation involves a report and a presentation with defense before a jury.

– Education and training.
Learning Language
Portuguese.
In the third year, students should choose a host institution that offers a language other than Portuguese, the teaching language at ISEC.
Learning Objectives
The curriculum of the degree in Informatics Engineering – European Course is developed over six semesters. In the first four semesters, students are expected to acquire generic and practical knowledge in the area of Informatics Engineering, Mathematics and Social-professional Context that includes training in Foreign Languages and Management. The last two semesters are of specialisation, with curricular units that allow the development of specific competences.
At the same time, the syllabus allows the acquisition of crosswise competences such as: the ability to solve problems in new and unfamiliar situations, the ability to learn throughout life with a high degree of autonomy, the ability to communicate orally and in writing, the ability to work as a team, among others. It should be noted that the learning objectives and competences mentioned above are acquired and developed in the different classes (theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical/laboratory), as well as in autonomous working hours.
