Laboratory Rotation

Teaching Methodologies

Given the practical nature of this course unit, the teaching methodology emphasizes regular discussions on key topics and continuous progress evaluation. The learning process includes:
Discussion sessions on methodologies used and results obtained.
Assessment of research progress throughout the rotation.

Assessment Type: Periodic Evaluation
To pass the course, students must achieve a minimum score of 9.5/20 in the overall evaluation, which is composed of:
Daily Practical Assessment – Evaluation of student performance in the laboratory environment (20% of the final grade).
Written Report – A detailed report on the rotation, including feedback from the supervisor(s) (40% of the final grade).
Oral Presentation – Presentation of research findings to the research group (40% of the final grade).
Minimum Requirement: Students must obtain at least 9.5/20 in each of the three evaluation components to pass the course.

Learning Results

At the end of the course unit, students will be able to:
1. Acquire scientific expertise in a research project on topics of interest to the student.
2. Apply research methods and laboratory contexts.
3. Gain scientific experience and develop critical thinking regarding the planning, acquisition, and analysis of data, while adhering to the quality and scientific integrity standards.
4. Integrate into scientific groups, engaging in peer discussions about ongoing projects in the host laboratory.

Program

The student is required to prepare a detailed written report on the work conducted, including:
State of the Art – A literature review on the research topic.
Project Objectives – Clear definition of the study’s aims.
Experimental Design and Methodologies – Description of experimental setup and techniques employed.
Main Results and Discussion – Analysis and interpretation of findings.
Presentation and Evaluation
The student must present their work within their research group, with mandatory participation from their supervisor(s).
The final grade will be based on the report and presentation, incorporating feedback from the supervisor(s).
The evaluation, along with the supervisor’s assessment, will be submitted to the Master’s program coordinator, who will officially record the final grade.
