Teaching Methodologies
Due to the theoretical-practical nature of this course unit, the teaching methodology emphasizes discussion of student-selected topics. The course structure includes presentation and critical discussion of the chosen scientific publications.
Assessment Criteria:
To pass the course, students must achieve a minimum final grade of 9.5 out of 20, based on the following components:
Evaluation of research, selection, and analysis of scientific publications – 20%
Presentation and discussion of selected publications, including their limitations – 80%
Note: A minimum score of 9.5 must be achieved in both assessment components.
Learning Results
1. Investigate and discuss emerging topics in metabolism research.
2. Critically analyze and discuss key scientific articles in the fields of metabolism and translational research on metabolic diseases.
Program
Students must develop bibliographic research skills in advanced topics within the field and identify key scientific articles relevant to their area of study.
They are expected to conduct a detailed analysis of selected scientific articles, including:
State of the art on the article’s topic.
Objectives of the study.
Experimental design and methodologies used.
Main results and discussion of findings.
Additionally, each student will deliver an oral presentation on a selected article related to their field of interest. This presentation must include:
A comprehensive review of the study.
A critical analysis of its limitations and scientific advancements.
